Virginia K. Davis- Daniels, a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, has sadly passed away on January 4, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She was born in Paris, Texas. Virginia lived a remarkable life filled with compassion, dedication to others, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
From an early age, Virginia had a strong sense of humanity and service. She initially pursued a career in nursing but with a small child to raise her nursing career was placed on hold. Later she would turn her attention to a business career enjoying the challenges of insurance underwriting, for several years. It was not long before political injustices caught the eye of Virginia. In 2022 Virginia volunteered for the former Dallas District Attorney Faith Johnson’s campaign and would work for Dallas County Elections as a Presiding or Alternate Judge, in state and national elections, a role she truly enjoyed. However, at the end of the election year and campaign Virginia served as a School Crossing Guard for ACMS in 2023 while completing Jackson Hewitt Tax Preparer program in October 2023.
Virginia’s personality could only be described as remarkable. Those who knew her described her as very helpful to others and always willing to lend a hand. She had strong opinions but possessed the gift of being able to engage in thoughtful discussions while respecting different viewpoints.
Throughout her life, Virginia embodied determination and resilience. No obstacle was too great for her; instead; she saw challenges as opportunities for growth and Virginia was not afraid of growing. Her calm demeanor and peacemaking abilities brought people together during difficult times. Being a great listener who genuinely valued what you had to say. Her kind nature and unwavering support. Virginia uncanny ability to maintain a positive outlook even during the darkness moments. These were the qualities that created unbroken bonds with family and friends.
The impact Virginia made on others' lives will be unforgettable. If you were a niece or nephew, you will remember the large pancakes she would cook and try to make you eat more than one, the classes held to ensure you knew your numbers and alphabet prior to starting school and the much-needed advice she gave. If you are a sibling, you will remember the long phone conversations filled with love, laughter and opinions. If you are a daughter, you will remember all the above in addition to the timeless wisdom, security, support, joy, laughter, correction and unwavering love.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzo and Betty Jean Thompson, as well as her husband, Ewell Jerry Daniels. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean Ann Mcgee-Butler and Linda Thompson and brothers Jefferson Davis, Ricky Thompson, Kenneth Davis and Jerry Thompson and niece Dianne McGee.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her surviving daughter Shelimetra D Davis and niece Jasmine Green: also, special friend Glen Anderson Sisters, Shirley LeFall, Angel Thompson and Lisa Thompson: also, nieces Jeannette McGee, Ashley Thompson, Lajessica Greer and nephews Rob Gilyard, Bryant Gilyard, Alex Gilyard, Lorenzo Thompson with a host of other nieces and nephews. Virginia’s presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and dedication will continue to inspire generations to come.
