Virginia Oudems Stradford, beloved educator and Coach, passed away on December31, 2023. Born on September 4, 1941, she dedicated an incredible 38 years of her life to the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), where she taught and coached at James Madison High School and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Virginia earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Prairie View A&M University. Armed with an unwavering passion for education, she impacted the lives of countless students throughout her career. Her commitment to teaching went beyond the classroom, as she also served as a mentor and inspiration to many young individuals. Coached track, volleyball, and basketball.
But teaching was not the only area where Virginia excelled. She had a magnetic personality that made her the rock of her family. Described as loving, kind, giving, and rewarding, Virginia was always there for her loved ones when they needed her most. Her presence brought comfort and strength to all those around her.
Outside of her professional life, Virginia had a deep love for sports. She genuinely enjoyed watching football, basketball, and volleyball. These hobbies fueled her competitive spirit and provided an escape from the demands of everyday life.
She was a member of Mt Horeb MBC for more than 50 years.
Virginia's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. She is preceded in death by her husband George, her beloved mother, Thelma Oudems; father Dean Oudems; brothers Earl, Dean, JW, Ocie, Lee, Lewis, Roy, Luther, and Manuel; sister Doris; She leaves to cherish her memories her brother Odell and a host of nieces and nephews. The memories they shared with Virginia will forever be cherished.
To honor Virginia's remarkable life and pay tribute to the immense impact she had on others' lives, services have been arranged. A viewing will take place on January 12th from 12 noon - 9 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy in Dallas, Texas.
A Funeral Service will follow on January 13th at 1:00 PM at MT HOREB MBC, situated at 3306 Carpenter Avenue in Dallas, Texas.
Virginia Oudems Stradford touched the hearts of so many and leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. May she find eternal peace in the loving embrace of heaven.
