Willie Hewitt Jr. passed away on April 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was born on December 19, 1944, in Caldwell, TX.
Willie led a remarkable life which was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his family and his community. After retiring from the post office, Willie dedicated himself to being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, earning him the endearing title of "Beef Master" among his friends.
His time in the United States Army was marked by courage and valor during the Vietnam War, where he served for 2 years and reached the rank of sergeant. Willie's bravery was recognized with the Purple Heart, a testament to his selflessness and commitment to serving his country.
In addition to his military service and career, Willie was known for his exceptional skills in sausage making. His handmade sausages earned him acclaim among those who had the pleasure of tasting them. He took great pride in this craft and shared it generously with others.
Beyond work and military service, Willie found joy in simple pleasures such as hunting, fishing, grilling, and cooking. He cherished moments spent with loved ones during travel adventures and cruises.
One of Willie's proudest accomplishments was maintaining a beautifully manicured lawn at his new home alongside his beloved wife. Their home was a sanctuary filled with love and laughter—a reflection of their strong bond.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members including his loving wife, daughter, 2 grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren, and 2 siblings, as well as a wide circle of friends who were fortunate enough to know him. While we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the life of Willie Hewitt Jr., a man whose presence brought light into the lives of all who knew him.
The services to honor and remember Willie will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas on May 7th for visitation and prayer service followed by the funeral service at EASTGATE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH on May 8th. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
