CORA MITCHELL

August 16, 1956 — May 23, 2021

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8

Elder Cora Brider Mitchell departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Houston, Texas.  She was the fourth child of six children born to the Late E. T. and Tiny Mae Brider on August 16, 1956 in Helena, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at the early age of 8 years-old at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Helena, Arkansas, under the leadership of Reverend A.L. Woodson.

Elder Cora was full of life, enthusiasm, energy, love, joy, the word of God and a determination to Preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, Him crucified and risen from the dead with all power in His hand to heal the sick, deliver and to set the captives free. She was all about souls being saved to the Glory of God the Father.

Elder Cora accepted her calling to ministry and attended The School of Ministry, founded by the late Apostle Rubye Durden and was ordained on December 4th, 2005, under Soulspiration Love Connection Fellowship.  She then became affectionately known as one of The Apostles Daughters.  She later enrolled in The School of Ministry at her home church, The Potter’s House of Dallas under the Senior Pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes and was ordained to serve as needed in the Ministry.  One thing for sure she loved her Bishop and First Lady Jakes.

Elder Brider’s life was especially enriched when God sent the special love of her life and was united in marriage with Charles Mitchell in December of 2018. They shared a love that obviously was ordained by God. Their love for each other was deep and wide with a bright future ahead. He celebrated his wife in every way, and she loved that about him. They had become inseparable.

At the end of her journey, as she transitioned from this earthly tabernacle, he was at her side. Elder Cora Brider-Mitchell embraced God with open arms, great love and devotion. She fought the good fight and she finished her course. Through her entire spirited walk and transformation, her faith was revealed to all that met her. Understanding that all that she attained and accomplished was through God.

Elder Cora Brider-Mitchell will forever be remembered by her loving and devoted husband Mr. Charles Mitchell, her son Kevin Simes, Sr., whom she absolutely adored, her grandchildren that she found joy in talking about them to everyone, her sisters, her church family, friends and all who loved her.

Elder Cora leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted husband, Charles Mitchell, Beaumont,TX; her loving son, Kevin (Tia) Simes, Sr., Grand Prairie, TX; a stepdaughter, Nefateri Lane; two stepsons, Justin and Jelani Mitchell; grandchildren, Airial Smith, Kevin Simes, Jr., Kaleb Simes, Tai Johnson, TaKoryn Simes, Asha Lane, Jamaud Lane, Jaevion Mitchell, Jared Lane, Mhisani Guillory, Jamal Lane, Inadiya Mitchell, and Serena Mitchell; and a great grandchild, Adonis Simes; her sisters Katherine Johnson, Chicago, Ill, Hannah Brider (Abdullah), Ft.
