Eugene Cummings Jr. was born the fourth of seven children on July 28, 1948 to Eugene and Esther Cummings Sr. in Fort Worth, Texas. He was destined to serve, break barriers, and strive for excellence in all aspects of his life. Eugene graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. He soon after married Gloria Amerson who was his wife for 55 years and embarked on a journey of enlistment in the United States Army. He was stationed abroad in Germany. Upon honorable disabled discharge from the military he was ranked at specialist 4/Corporal as a mechanic. His next venture was to master the insurance business as an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance Company over three plus decades. Ultimately he was awarded as second in the nation for insurance sales. His passion for knowledge earned him a degree in Business. After retiring from Allstate Insurance Company the drive for success was still there which lead him to establish his own insurance agency. Throughout his life he promoted change and equality and was a member of the NAACP. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling - especially to embrace and obtain knowlege of his Native American heritage, fishing, hunting, Nascar, photography, coin collecting, model trains, movies, building and programming computers, and he had a die hard love for the Texas Rangers baseball team whether it was attending the games in person, watching the games on television, listening to the games on the radio or merely wearing Texas Rangers gear.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Cummings, son, Daryl Cummings, father, Eugene Cummings Sr., mother, Esther Cummings, sisters, Juanita Griffin, Brenda Fay Cummings, and Jean Daggett.
Leaving to cherish his memories: sons, Wendall Cummings, Eugene Cummings lll, Christopher Cummings, daughter, Angela Cummings - Stevens, grand children, Jethell Cole, Elijah McGraw, great grand children, Drelynn Sewell, Deric Bedford, Gianna Stevenson, sisters, Gwenda Glover, Donetta Cummings, sister/neice, Tiffany Riley, Remonica Lewis, brother, Ronnie Cummings, brother in law, Kenneth Daggett, and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.
